Duke is a 13.3 hh, 3-year-old Welsh/Quarter Horse bay gelding with approximately 75 days of professional riding.

 

This cross combines the refinement, intelligence and athletic movement of Welsh breeding with the strength, versatility and quiet mind of the Quarter Horse. The result is a well-balanced, handy horse suited for ranch work, performance events or an all-around family horse.

 

He is developing into a versatile prospect, having been ridden western and bareback, worked around cattle, and exposed to other horses.

 

He is currently being schooled on roping basics and has successfully tracked the dummy. 

 

Primarily trained by an experienced youth, Duke is known for his kind disposition and improving ground manners, including being easy to trim. While he remains green due to his age, he settles nicely with regular work and has demonstrated he can be managed by less experienced riders after being warmed up.

 

Duke currently possesses a reliable stop, reverse, and responsive forward cues. He is effectively learning to side pass and cross over, with continued training ensuring he will have even more refined buttons by sale day.
